Through strategic advocacy campaigns and effective communication strategies, we work towards raising awareness, influencing policy discussions and promoting sustainable practices. Our aim as ICT is to mobilize individuals, communities and policy makers to take action to protect and preserve environment for future generations.
Activities
Camel Caravan
ICT is part of the Camel caravan which is an annual event organized to sustain awareness on the importance of protecting and conserving river Ewaso Ng’iro which provides life line to over 3.5 million people, their livestock and wildlife. The annual event is aimed at strengthening community participation and voice in natural resources management, climate change, disaster risk reduction and managing protracted violent conflict experienced in the landscape.
Radio Talk Show
ICT hosts radio talk shows to have a conversation on conservation. Our talk shows have power to reach a wide audience and raise awareness about environmental issues. By bringing these topics to the forefront of public discussion, we educate our listeners and motivate people to take action. They play a vital role in mobilizing public support for environmental causes and promoting a more sustainable future.
Indigenous people advocacy
- ICT helps in advocating for indigenous communities living in northern parts of Kenya. The inclusion and participation in developmental process. These communities are our biodiversity conservationists, 80% of the world biodiversity are safeguarded by such communities hence the use of indigenous knowledge in conservation.
Sustainable development goals NDCs advocacy
ICT supports all the 17 sustainable development goals with actions. All our activities are geared towards implementation of certain SDGs. We also support the national government on through nationally determined contributions. Our grassroots actions always have a bearing towards NDCs. By actively involving and educating youths on climate action advocacy, sustainable waste management, natural resources management, renewable energy and continuous community engagements, there is a greater likelihood of achieving meaningful and inclusive sustainable development that aligns with national climate and environmental goals. The grassroots-level involvement of communities ensures that solutions are context-specific, culturally sensitive, and effectively address the needs of local communities
